This Dream vision requires strong leadership and project support beyond the current capacity of our small community. As such, the Dream Institute will be established with a two-fold mission:
1) to operate an “AmeriCorps” style program which enables partnering universities to provide their students with “study abroad in Appalachia” opportunities that augment community program needs while providing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make a real difference in a place where hope is sorely needed. The program would require full immersion of study abroad participants into the Appalachian culture and be organized around 5 Tracks or areas of focus: Community Leadership; Marketing/Creative Team; Dream Discovery Center STEAM Learning Programs; Substance abuse/addiction Recovery; Crisis Relief/Case Management; and
2) in close cooperation with the Community Center and other community based organizations, provide a local portal for missions and other outside groups seeking to partner and join in the Dream efforts, either directly or virtually. The Dream Institute’s leadership and program infrastructure will rapidly expand local capacity for the God-sized Dreams being undertaken by the coalition.
